2015
Wide Cardioid Microphone
The wide cardioid characteristic of the 2015 offers an innovative way to capture the spacious and natural sound of the whole drum kit or another group of instruments. Its compact design combined with its wide pickup range makes it an unobtrusive solution for the live stage.
Overhead mics for ambient pick up on the live stage
If a conventional cardioid pickup pattern is not open enough in a live situation, choose a pair of 2015 Compact Wide Cardioids. They are ideal as overheads to capture a balanced sound of the entire instrument group, such as a drum kit.
The wide cardioid (also called hemispherical, subcardioid or hypcardioid) is also an excellent choice when recording instrument groups with complex dispersion patterns, as it covers a wider angle of sound.

Durable, rugged construction
The 2015 model is designed to withstand the rough handling on a hectic live stage. It has a thicker, more rugged brass body construction that is highly durable and known for its corrosion resistance and tolerance to metal fatigue. In addition to the durable materials, the surfaces of the microphone handle and grille are finished with a protective black chrome coating which provides more protection against aging.
Spacious, wide cardioid pick-up pattern
The 2015 can be positioned close to the drums, closer than you would normally place overhead mics, and still pick up the sound of the entire drum kit evenly. This closer position results in a stronger signal from the drums and therefore less crosstalk from the stage.
Uniform cardioid directionality
The 2015 has a wide cardioid capsule with DPA's signature flat off-axis response. In addition to high gain before feedback, this feature makes it easier for sound engineers to deal with overloads from other instruments in close proximity. The 2015 picks up off-axis noise in a very natural and attenuated manner.
Natural and precise sound reproduction
Like all DPA microphones, the 2015 is characterized by a pure and transparent sound.
Compact design for unobtrusive positioning on stage
Although the 2015 is available as a single microphone, it really shines as a matched stereo pair selected with a sensitivity tolerance of +/- 1.5 dB. The compact design of this stereo pair provides open, natural sound pickup without compromising the exciting action on stage.
