UNIKA NBB-1616

The NBB-1616 is a fully digitised 16 x 16 break-in/break-out box that streams multi-channel audio bidirectionally over standard Ethernet cables and switches. The NBB-1616 uses Audionate Dante network technology. It supports up to Layer 3 of the IEEE 802.3 network standard and can be easily integrated into your audio network.

  • 16 x 16 fully digitised break-in/break-out box
  • Dante-enabled networked breakbox or stagebox
  • Streaming audio over a standard robust Ethernet cable
  • Supports Layer 3 of the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standard, which means:
  • Streaming over Layer 3 Ethernet switches is possible.
  • Simple organisation of the network topology with normal Ethernet switches
  • Redundant network mode for fault-tolerant audio distribution, or
  • Daisy-chain network mode for easy coverage expansion.
  • Audio routing can be set via a Dante-enabled audio console, or
  • Dedicated Dante Controller software for Windows and Mac OS
  • 24-bit PCM encoding with a sampling rate of up to 192 KHz.
  • PPM display with clip hold to monitor input/output level
  • Option to double the channel capacity with an expansion box
UNIKA

Each NBB-1616 Breakbox has two Ethernet ports that allow you to cascade multiple NBB-1616s in a network connection. You can also configure the two Ethernet ports to work independently, but in parallel, i.e. you can make two connections redundant for seamless network backup. This greatly increases flexibility and reliability when using equipment for audio networking.

Audio routing between the NBB-1616 and any Dante-enabled console or workstation can be configured via a computer using the dedicated Dante Controller software, available free from the Audinate website. With the Dante Virtual Soundcard software, you can even record multi-track audio streams directly to or from the NBB-1616 breakbox using your DAW software.

When used as a stagebox, the NBB-1616 transfers audio directly from or to any Dante-enabled audio console or DAW workstation. With a dedicated P2P pairing button on the back of the unit, two NB-1616s can even be paired to form a digital snake that bi-directionally transmits audio over a standard Ethernet cable without the need for an audio console or computer. All routing configurations and device settings are automatically saved and retained when the power is turned back on. Audio conversion is in 24-bit at up to 192 kHz. The adjustable, electronically balanced outputs provide a signal voltage of up to 24 dBu. All inputs can be controlled with line or microphone level and also have phantom power, pad, phase inversion and metering with clip hold function. Here, too, all settings can be made on the unit itself.
